“Ethical Loneliness” of Miya Muslims in Assam

In the 1950s, Miya Muslims in Assam declared Assamese as their mother tongue, urged by Congress to help make it the state language. Today, they are vilified and not recognized as Assamese. Their loyalty turned into erasure. This is what Dr. Yasmin Saikia calls "ethical and historical loneliness."
